After having a very successful review of Little Joy's album (lol..wut? nobody gave any shit about it, dude), I decided to review an album by The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, a pretty underrated band consists of Sean Lennon, the darling son of John 'King of Hippies' Lennon (don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of John 'King of Hippies' Lennon, I think hippies are cool) and his girlfriend, a supermodel, Charlotte Muhl. So, here's what Wikipedia said about them:

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger was formed in 2008 by musician Sean Lennon and his girlfriend, musician/model Charlotte Kemp Muhl. The name of the band is from a short story once written by Muhl.[1] Kemp and Lennon met in 2004 at the Coachella Music Festival. In an interview with the UK publication The Daily Telegraph Lennon commented on their relationship: "Charlotte hadn’t even heard "Strawberry Fields Forever" when I met her," Lennon said. "And she knew nothing about my mum. Her parents thought I was just a delinquent, by virtue of association with the famous hippie delinquents. So it was nice because it was like a bridging of gaps and a collision of galaxies."

From the band's name you probably gonna expect a heavy metal kind of shit, but to disappoint you, they are not. The sound of GOASTT's music is like this sweet French folk pop. Though at first it's kinda hard to differ one song with another since they sound almost the same and I guess that's one of the album's weakness. To make it simpler, just imagine you are listening to sweeter album than She and Him's. Still, this is a great album to listen to when you're trying to relax or maybe even when it's raining, cause well you know to get all melancholy shit gets more real. It'll make you mind experiencing a journey to a weird but beautiful surreal place...the fuck am I talking about, anyway, some said that Sean and Charlotte are like John and Paul, but of course not in the same awesome level as John and Paul (duhhh). I sometimes hate but also feel bad for Sean, I meant he lost his Dad when he was a little boy, people keep comparing him and his awesome Dad and expecting him to be as good as his awesome Dad but again when I just start to give him a sympathy, I stop and think again, Motherfucker got a song written by his Dad for him (Beautiful Boy, Darling Sean is my fave song ever), he can play lots of music instruments, AND his Dad's music keep giving him enough money to go have a holiday every fucking day. I just stop feeling bad about him and hate him again.

Best Music Video (part 1)

I got myself a personal list of best music video ever made. They're from various bands or musicians. Alright, cut the crap, here's the list (it's actually because I don't know what else to say). They're not in order cause I can't really tell which one is the best.

1. Basement Jaxx - Do Your Thing
Aw.. this music video is super awesome, I guess I've seen this more than 10 times and I still love it. You don't need fancy set or shit like that to make an interesting music video. Most people in youtube like the "Bang Boom" part, I like it too cause it's hilarious but my fave part is the "Oh Oh Oh" part.. so funny.



2. Daft Punk - Faster Harder Better Stronger
I'm not sure if this is the official music video of the song. However, the guy who came out with the idea of making this video is awesome. At first I was like "wth is this?" but then as the singing started I couldn't stop watching. Fucking awesome. There's also another version of this song, if this one's called Daft Hand, the other is called Daft Body but I prefer this one.



3. Prodigy - Smack my Bitch Up
A music video with a twist. You'll probably say: "Fuck." after you've seen the ending. This video was banned from MTV cause of the sexual content in the video, and if you're not yet 18, don't watch this or watch this but don't tell anyone that you watch it here. You wont find the official video clip on youtube cause it's been banned from youtube too.

4. OK GO - Here We Go Again
This one is actually kinda funny. Apart from the catchy song, the treadmill routine is really enjoyable to watch. I once watched OK GO performing this song in a music award (can't really remember which music award but I'm pretty sure it's MTV's) and they were successfully doing the treadmill routine live! Damn.

No, Mash Up is not a person nor a cat. and he's not dying on the cold bed in the hospital. For you who do not know what mash up is, I'm gonna do you all a favor by quoting from Urban Dictionary (fuck Longman and Oxford dictionary).

Little Joy - the album review

It's an album review but don't expect that I'm gonna talk about the technique or shit like that, I will only talk about my personal opinion about Little Joy and their self titled album. First of all, this is what Wikipedia told me about Little Joy:

Little Joy is a Brazilian/American rock band formed in 2007 by Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo Amarante, The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and Binki Shapiro.

Their eponymous debut album was recorded with the help of producer Noah Georgeson and engineer Beau Raymond, whom Amarante met during his sessions with Devendra Banhart. It was released by Rough Trade Records on November 4, 2008, and was hailed by Pitchfork Media as "one of the sweetest, most listenable, consistently enjoyable records of the season." ^[2] Their debut album was given four stars by Rolling Stone magazine and Nick Hornby^[3] voted it his favourite album of 2008.

How fucking cool is that? I don't really listen to Los Hermanos but I love the Strokes. I don't know who Noah Georgeson is but the man got a Wikipedia page so he must be something. I don't know why they name the band Little Joy but at least it's better than Little Fucker, no? And about the album, here's the track list:

The songs remind me of She & Him's songs, they sound so indie. The album is mostly slow tunes, if you want to be sentimentil or shit like that, you can try some slow tunes like Shoulder to Shoulder, Don't Watch me Dancing , Play the Part, Evaporar and Unattainable. But they also got some pretty catchy tunes like The Next time around and Brand New Start. Here you will find couple songs with some Latinos lines in it (even the entire lyric of Evaporar is in Latin). One of the best song in here is Unattainable, it is also featured in Whip it! soundtrack (nice soundtrack, btw). Most songs here are basically delicious-at-ear kind of song with simple tunes and nice lyric. I'm gonna give it 4 out of 5 stars. I was actually gonna say lots about this when I first decided to post them, but suddenly my brain stop working, so yeah... that's basically what I can say about this album. (I bet this is probably like one of the worst album review you have ever read.. and I don't give any shit about that.)

Top 10 Best Use of a Song in a Film

To be honest, I didn't come out with this idea. I took it from a topic in a forum: Favorite use of a song in a film. from the website mubi.com. I'm a soundtrack collector and the soundtrack sometimes affect the my rating, take John c. Reilly's Dewey Cox for example; the movie sucks so bad, I tried to hate them movie but I just can't since they got pretty kick ass music there. enough with with crap, here are my picks, and one more thing, they are not in order because I can't really decide which one is the best.

1. Sam Whitman - Indian Love Call as heard in Mars Attack
This songs really plays a very big part in this movie, cause it is the song that is used to kill all the fugly aliens. and I happen to love the song. It's an oldies but who gives a shit, oldies are awesome.

2. Gigliola Cinquetti - Ma L'amore no as heard in Malena
I actually don't really know who sing this song. I googled it, several names showed up but I just picked Gigliola Cinquetti cause she's the oldest one. The song itself really helps building the sad atmosphere of the movie. You can heard this song in the scene when Malena was dancing with her husband's photograph as out little Peeping Tom, Renato, watches her. I don't understand the meaning of the song since I don't speak Italian but it's just beautiful.


3. Audrey Hepburn - Moon River as heard in Breakfast at Tiffany's
Holy fuckstick! this song is one of the best song I've ever heard and it was sung by one of the best women in the world (you're a soulless monster if you hate Audrey Hepburn). This song even won the 1961 Best Song Oscar, it was written by Johnny Mercer and composed by Henry Mancini (the guy who made Pink Panther's theme).

4. Jack Black - Let's Get it On as heard in High Fidelity
This is the perfect song to shock everyone, from the beginning Jack Black's character seems to be a perfect fat loser who is only good at making all the costumers away from the shop, but in the end once he sang this song, I was blown away. It's fucking awesome.


5. Chuck Berry - Johnny B, Goode as heard in Back to the Future I (lip-synced by Michael J. Fox)
It's everybody's fave movie, yep that's right, it's Back to the Future. I can watch this movie again and again all day long. It still looks great even till today. One of the best scene is when Michael J. Fox played Chuck Berry's song Johnny B. Goode and he rocked out like crazy, just fucking awesome. He left everybody at the prom amazed not because they like it but because they thought "what the fuck is wrong with that kid, rolling on the floor with his guitar and kicking at the amplifier?"

6. Irene Cara - Flashdance (What a Feeling) as heard in Flashdance
Most people love that Maniac song but I prefer the last song. I wasn't impressed at first cause it started pretty slow and mellow and so was the dance but then the tempo raised and followed with Jennifer Beals' amazing dance, I just fell in love with the song. This is the perfect song to build the great climax of the movie.

7. "Liebestod" (from Tristan und Isolde) as heard in Romeo + Juliet
a great opera song by Richard Wagner. You can hear this song when our tragic couple died side by side. They only took some part of the song' Tristan und Isolde and they took the best part of the song, the ending. it fits the movie's tragic scene perfectly.

8. Hall and Oates - You Make my Dream as heard in (500) Days of Summer
My friend said it's a cheesy song but I fucking love it. Joseph Gordon Levitt was dancing in the only musical part of the movie. It's so much fun, that musical number has become everybody's fave scene. this I shit you not (I haven't said this sentence in a long time).

9. Julie Delphy - a Waltz for the Night as heard in Before Sunset
Before Sunset without a doubt is a fucking masterpiece. We're like watching two philosophers talking about love and life, they are seen from the point of view of man and woman. This song is the song that is made by Celine for Jesse, it's about the the day that they spend couple years ago (as you can see in the first movie, Before Sunrise). The song is well sung and well written, we'll get back to the memory when they were together that day when we hear that song, and hoping that they'll be back together.

10. Chieko Baisho - Sekai No Yakusoku as heard in Howl's Moving Castle
a great song to end the movie. I don't usually like Asian songs and i don't even collect them but this song is an exception. It's so beautiful and.. ahh fuck, just watch the movie and you'll understand what I mean.

Top 10 Musical, IMO.

I'm a big fan of musical, actually it's not an easy thing to pick only 10 musicals cause I got lots of amazing musicals that I love, but anyway, you don't want to hear me bitching about that, do you? so here's the list:

10. An American in Paris (1951)
It's Gene Kelly's second best musical. The songs are great (I Got Rhythm, anyone?) but the best thing about this movie is the dancing, the last 15 minutes are pure musical, they didn't sing but all the did was dancing, it's crazy.


9. 42nd Street (1933)
We're like watching the drama that happened before the musical show that is going to be held, you won't find too many singing/dancing in here (the singing and dancing scenes are mostly in the scene when they're rehearsing), but once you follow the movie until the last 10 minutes, all the waiting and drama are worth it. The choreography is fantastic and so beautiful.


8. The Sound of Music (1965)
I didn't mean to be cliche but this movie is like the only fucking classic musical that everybody familiar with (even today's generation that don't really watch classic know this movie). We all spent our childhood watching this movie. The memorable songs like Do Re Mi, Sound of Music, 16 Going on 17, Favorite Things, Edelweiss, etc are so nostalgic.


7. West Side Story (1961)
I gotta admit, I didn't like this movie when I first saw it, I thought it's too gay but it's kinda growing on me after I watched it again and again. I started to love the songs and the dance at the party (that Mambo thing was pretty cool). It's like the musical version of Romeo and Juliet cause this movie was adapted from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.


6. Fantasia (1940)
A real feast for the eyes. It's a Disney's movie with the real Disney spirit in it. At one part, you'll laugh but in another part you'll feel hypnotized. Seriously, it's like watching opera (esp. the last part "Night at the Bald Mountain" and that Ave Maria song.. holy God). The best Disney's movie I've ever watched (Disney's cooperation with Pixar doesn't count).


5. Ziegfeld Follies (1946)
I've always loved Ziegfeld Follies with their songs and shows. This movie is actually the compilation of several musical numbers and short comedy show. I like Fanny Bryce' part, Judy Garland's also great and the best of all the duet between two musical legend, the beloved Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.


4. Sita Sings the Blues (2009)
People need to see this movie, it's like a fun feminist movie. Nina Paley successfully combine old jazz songs from Annette Hanshaw with today's catchy tunes. The narration is very honest because they are unscripted.


3. Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Two words to sum up this movie: Spectacular! Spectacular!
This is the best modern musical with great set, various songs combined into a great medley, great chemistry between the two lead actor and actress and great theatrical numbers.


2. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
In this movie you can see Marylin Monroe and her most memorable musical number: Diamonds are Girl's Best Friend. She's funny as hell, so was Jane Russell. If you want a good laugh and great songs, you can check out this movie.


1. Singin' in the Rain (1952)
The. best. musical. ever. created. by. human. being.
Hands down for this musical, all the songs, dancing and comedy just fit everybody's taste. Gene Kelly's amazing tap dance, Goofy Donald O'Connor, cute Debbie Reynolds and scene stealer Jean Hagen. Seriously, Fred Astaire can wash Gene Kelly's dishes.




Honorable mention:
* Funny Face (1957) - I love the costumes and the photos but most of all I love Audrey Hepburn.

* My Fair Lady (1964) - Fashion lover should love this movie. The costumes are truly high fashion.

* Grease (1978) - All the catchy songs like You're the One that I Want, Summer Night, Grease Lightning, etc.

* Wizard of Oz (1939) - One of the best song in musical movie: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

* South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut (2001) - Shut your fucking face, Uncle Fucker!

* Chicago (2002) - Cell Block Tango and the Nowadays - Not a Honey Rag are fucking amazing.

* Meet Me in St. Louis - Judy Garland sang to the most sentimental Christmas song: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Kick Ass - the Soundtrack review

I like the movie (esp. Hit-Girl), it's kinda obvious from the previous post. It's gonna be a short review about the soundtrack. Here's the list of the soundtrack:

The soundtrack really remind me of Guy Ritchie's movie soundtrack (ex. RocknRolla and Snatch) where you can find few memorable lines from the movie. For the songs itself, Prodigy's Omen and Stand Up are pretty cool (say it like Cartman says "cyul"). The Little Ones' There’s A Pot Brewin’ really reminds me of Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stone (which means good). Banana Splits by the Dickies and Bad Reputation by the Hit Girl really make me go back to the cool scene with Hit Girl. What makes this soundtrack kicks ass is because they got the legendary Ennio Morricone's score from the classic movie For a Few Dollars More (you know it's classy when you got Morricone). However, there's always a flaw, there are two songs that I don't really like from this movie, Pretty Reckless' Make me Wanna Die and New York Doll's We're All in Love, but you can always skip it anyway. In conclusion this soundtrack is worth to buy/download.

The Horniest Song Ever

Chakachas – Jungle Fever.
That's the horniest song ever. This song is probably Chahachas' most popular song. I gotta admit, the song is great. They basically don't have lyric, we are actually listening to woman's voice as if she's having sex. But again, this is not the kind of song that you wanna play out loud so everybody can listen to it. Thank God, I own iPod. You can also find this song in Boogie Night's soundtrack list. Well, the song fits the movie perfectly.

she has a punk band called El Madmo, you should check out the album cause it's awesome. They got some pretty kicking tracks like Carlo, Fantasy Guy, Nanny Goat Mon, Scary Lady and Rock Yer Balls Off. Not many people know about El Madmo, even their fan page in Facebook only got 72 fans (I'm one of them). Now I command you all to check out the website and download the song. Go!

Guitar Loser

Yep, I'm not a guitar hero, I'm a guitar loser. I've been learning to play this magical instrument since last week, and I'm still suck at it but I really enjoy it.. I do not expect myself to be as awesome as Jimi Hendrix or George Harrison but it'll be lovely if I can play one of their songs.. I even plan to make a song about my late turtle, Gebleki.. now, that's what I call "super lovely".

I am the sexiest turtle alive, my Mom told me so.

Underrated genius

Mychael Danna (that's right, Mychael with 'y') is my new favorite movie composer. He might be not as popular as John Williams or Danny Elfman but this guy got some seriously amazing scores that he has made for some great movies, like (500) days of summer and Time Traveler's Wife.
If you have seen (500) days of summer, you must have heard the opening score where the narrator told a story about a boy and a girl.. that's right, Mr. Danna made that score! I love his work in Time Traveler's Wife, too.. it really helped the movie to build some sad and romantic moments.

this guy can win Oscar someday, and when he does, I'm gonna jump and said: "Ha! I told you so!" this I shit you not.

Whip it - a movie and soundtrack review

I'm not gonna talk that much about the movie because it was just an Okay movie. Drew Barrymore did a great job, she can make a good director. Ellen Page and Juliette Lewis were good too.
Anyway, what caught my attention the most from the movie was the soundtrack. I'm a movie soundtrack lover. I got like hundreds of movie soundtrack collections.. and I shit you not that this movie's soundtrack is amazing. They got from the Ramones to Dolly Parton.. It's an amazing rock n roll compilation.

My very first post!

let's just cut the crap.. my first post is about Otis Redding.. the most amazing soul singer ever live. I know most of my friends are very tired of listening me talking about Otis and how great he was.. but it's true! this man was a fucking legend! IMO, his best song is Try a Little Tenderness... (also enlisted in My Blueberry Night's Soundtrack.. pretty good movie, by the way). Too bad, he died young.. life's such a bitch.
